Other pain lingers, quietly taking up residence in our lives. Living with pain can mean waking up with it, eating with it, laughing with friends while it hums in the background, even carrying it when we try to forget.

And when it stays… for weeks, months, sometimes years… we often start to feel like we’re living around it rather than through it.

We try everything we can think of. Doctors, therapies, diets, exercise programs, meditation challenges, the latest “miracle” treatments. And when it doesn’t leave? A quiet voice inside begins to whisper, What’s wrong with me?

Pain Isn’t Your Identity

This simple practice isn’t about “getting rid” of pain—it’s about opening your attention to something larger than it, and allowing your awareness to soften and expand.

  • Find your still point.
    Sit or lie down comfortably. Let your body be supported.

  • Breathe with presence.
    Inhale gently through your nose… pause… exhale softly through your mouth. No force, no control—just allowing.

  • Invite the Frequencies.
    Slowly raise your hands in front of you, palms relaxed, one slightly higher than the other. Let them hover in the space, and notice—without expectation—any sensations between them: warmth, coolness, tingling, pulsing, stretching, or something subtler.

  • Play with the field.
    Move your hands slightly closer together, then farther apart. Tilt or rotate them. Follow your instinct. Feel how the sensations shift and dance in response.

  • Let awareness expand.

The paradox is that when we release the fight—when we no longer make our worth or happiness conditional on being pain-free—something softens. The constant mental grip loosens. The body no longer braces for a battle. The heart begins to exhale.

In that moment, a new kind of space opens—one that isn’t about the absence of pain, but the presence of you. And in this space, something extraordinary can happen. The mind is no longer searching, the body is no longer defending, and your awareness begins to include more than the discomfort.
